Simulation encounters
Table of contents
Mechanics
Simulation encounters can be triggered by interacting with an Al Bhed terminal and selecting one of the monsters under the “Fiend Info” submenu:
At the start of the encounter some text boxes containing info about the monster will appear:
The encounter will always contain one monster and it will never be an Ambush/Preemptive.
While they mostly behave like normal encounters (including RNG), they have some special properties:
- a situation that will normally trigger a Game Over will simply end the fight;
- there is no spoils screen, you can’t gain AP, items, Gil or equipment from killing the monster or bribing it (they will still drop but they will be deleted before being added to the inventory) or from Steal, Mug or Nab Gil;
- it will not increase the encounter counter used to calculate Aeons’ stats;
- using an Overdrive with Tidus will not count toward unlocking his next Overdrive;
- Kimahri can’t learn Ronso Rages.
